President’s Office Minister AishathAzimaShakoor has stated that Maldives will not and will never condone or support terrorism.
Speaking to press in the President’s Office, Azima denied claims made by certain individuals that Maldives supported terrorism and extremism. She added that none of these elements are present in the society. Azima said that various media reports, erroneous at best, were being circulated in an attempt to defame the nation, adding that the truth will be apparent to anyone who had cared to investigate the truth.
President Yameen had also spoken in this manner, stressing that the country will never condone terrorism. He had said that many individuals from different nation go to Syria and Iraq to take part in what they deem as a jihad, not just from the Maldives.
President highlighted that the biggest terror enforcer for IS was an English citizen, condemning the efforts by a few to paint the nation as a terror advocate.
