Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz has handed over the documentation for the construction of the largest mosque in the Maldives to Islamic Minister Dr. Ahmed ZiyadBaqir. The Mosque will be called “King Salman Mosque”.
The documentation was handed over to the Islamic Minister in a ceremony held in Hotel Jen last night by Saudi Ambassador Badr Ali Al-Kahail.
Once completed, the mosque will be able to house 6,000 individuals. The building will have six stories, with a library, center on quran, a multi-purpose hall, class rooms and a assembly hall. The building will also have parking areas and will have lifts.
The center for holy Quran will be located on a plot of land, nearly the size of the mosque.
The mosque is to be located near the China Maldives Friendship Bridge, visible on the horizon of Male’. Once completed the building will be a hallmark of Islamic values and will be one of the most important buildings to be created in Male’.
