Safeguarding women’s right and empowering women among administration’s top priorities says the President
President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom said that one of his administration’s top priorities was to work on safeguarding women’s right and empowering women in diverse sectors. The President said this in his message to mark this year’s International Women’s Day.

In his message the President sent Women’s Day greetings to all the Maldivian citizens; especially Maldivian women and organizations who work for the progress and betterment of the women in general. In his message, the President underlined that Maldivian women have continued to serve the nation starting from times well past. President Yameen further emphasized the women’s contribution the nation and society in general.

The President reminded the people of contributions by brave and determined women working for the development of this nation and expressed his gratitude to them. He stated that the motto for this year’s International Women’s Day illuminates the importance given to the development of women internationally and assured the public that his administration will continue working towards achieving gender equality by the end of year 2030.

President Yameen also called on all government agencies and other organizations to lend their full support to the government in eradicating the challenges towards women’s development.
