Ureteroscopy services begin in ADK Hospital
ADK Hospital has begun ureteroscopy services.

Speaking to press in ADK, the doctor’s team said that patients previously had to resort to treatment from abroad, adding that the service available was of high quality.

Medical complications that require such procedures were painful for the patients, further increasing recovery times.

A Nepali specialist, Dr. Pradeep will be conducting the procedures. He said one procedure had been conducted yesterday, which was quite successful.

ADK Managing Director Ahmed Af’aal said that the services provided in the hospital were of the highest quality, provided with state of art machines. He noted that urologists were now being trained and additional individuals are to be trained. Af’aal added that the hospital aims to train locals in the field.

The procedure is carried out by inserting a tube up the urethra. Once completed, if there are no complications, the patient can be released within one or two days. Af’aal said that the CT scan service will be halted for 30 or 45 days, to upgrade the systems.

He noted that the current systems available in the hospital are the best in the region, adding that the system was available only in two hospitals in India.

The machinery in ADK does not emit a lot of radiation. Dr. Niyaf said that the CT scan at the hospital does not take over a minute.
