Member of Parliament for Galolhu Dhekunu Constituency Ahmed Mahloof has been sentenced to serve five days in house arrest.
The sentence was issued after he was summoned to Criminal Court.
Police Media said that there were three cases were filed against Mahloof: attacking a police officer, attempting to flee the scene of crime and obstruction of justice.
A tweet posted by Police said that Mahloof was arrested following the scuffles that occurred after the protest, in which a police officer was attacked.
Police arrested Mahloof while he was inside Jalauddin Mosque.
