Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has reported that the Saudi Government is to donate US$ 50 million for construction of housing units under the MNDF housing scheme.
MNDF said that the agreement was signed in the defense minister Adam Shareef Umar’s visit to Saudi Arabia.
Defense Minister returned back home yesterday after attending the closing ceremony of the military exercise “North Thunder”. He attended the ceremony as a special representative of the President. The exercises were run under the Saudi Government led initiative to combat terrorism in the region.
In his visit to Saudi Arabia, Defense Minister paid visits to Saudi Defense Minister and heads of other Islamic nations.
He was accompanied on this trip by MNDF Department of International Defense Cooperation and Policy Principle Director Colonel Abdul Matheen Ahmed. Defense Minister was in Saudi Arabia from the 10th to the 13th of this month.
