President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has said that the construction of the 10,000 housing units in Hulhumale’ will be handed over to a selected contractor.
He made the statement speaking in the inauguration ceremony of the clean water system in Maamigilee Island in Alif Dhaal Atoll.
Addressing the ceremony, President Yameen said that a number of foreign contractors had expressed interest in carrying out the project and that the Government had received a number of proposals from those parties.
President Yameen said that some of the proposals were based on prices that can be easily purchased by citizens and the state. He assured that the rights of foreign investors.
He also noted that in the event an issue surfaces, the three judicial process can be finished within six months in Supreme Court. Noting that normally the process takes longer, he said that it was a boost to the country.
