First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim has inaugurated the family maahefun organized by Islamic Ministry.
Speaking about the maahefun, held this evening in Republic Square, Islamic Minister Dr. Ahmed Ziyad Baqir said the event was held as part of the initiative held to make this Ramadan a special one. He noted that nations such as Saudi Arabia and Egypt had granted scholars to the country for this Ramadan.
Deputy Minister Sheikh Ibrahim Ahmed said maahefun is a traditional event held in the country, though the event was a cultural one not a religious one. He said this year, in addition to maahefun the Ministry will conduct sermons.
