Thai Government has announced that the Government will seek to boost Thai investments in the Maldives.

Thailand’s Trade Negotiations Department will look into possible trade options, with them focusing mainly on health sector, clothing, increasing exports and sending trained professionals to the Maldives.

The Department’s Director General said Maldives required assistance in tourism, urban development projects, port development projects, airport development, medical tourism, fisheries and factory development.

Additionally, the Government had said they wished to arrange easier access to visas for visitors from Maldives and availability of Aasandha services from Thai hospitals frequented by locals.

The discussions had already been conducted by a joint committee and the discussions were extremely successful.

President Abdullah Yameen had met with Thai Prime Minister and Government officials during his recent trip to the country.
