Bridge construction begins

Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizz has said the main construction work of the China Maldives Friendship Bridge had begun after the preliminaries had been completed.

A tweet posted by the Minister said all the preliminaries for the project had been completed and the pipes for the foundation had already been sunk. He said the driving steel casings had also been installed on Friday.

The Minister said following this, the concrete work of the bridge will begin. He added that before end of June the pillars of the bridge will be visible.

Dr. Muizz had estimated that the project would be finished in 2018 and will be opened to public on July 26, 2018.
