Vilimale’ Constituency MP and PPM PG Leader Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik has stated that President Abdullah Yameen deserved the presidential ticket without primaries.
Speaking in DhiTV’s “Khabaru therein” program, Nihan reflected on the progress made by the President in developing the nation over a short period. He said that the President had the full backing of senior members of PPM and Council and as such, he has to be given the ticket now.
Nihan said that there were no contenders within the Party against the President for 2018.
He added that the Party had to finalize who was the presidential candidate now as it would not be prudent to delay preparing for elections during a politically charged time.
Nihan said man members had already begun campaigning for 2018 on behalf of the President on their own accord, after having recognized the important role he had played in the nation.
