MDP Deputy Leader Mohamed Shifaz has said that the party was aware of who had left for Jihad from the Maldives.
Speaking to press in MDP office, Shifaz today said that he hoped this information was received by other parties as well and as such those individuals must be stopped.
While Shifaz had made this allegation, he had not revealed whether MDP had passed this information to the Police or made an attempt to prevent those from going. Many have criticized MDP for making such a bold claim, questioning whether if this was in good faith or responsible.
All those who leave for Jihad, leave through a network. Therefore, if a political party had connections to this, then the issue becomes even more concerning.
In today’s press conference MDP had condemned the recent stabbings involving many young persons. MDP had called on the Home Minister to resign if unable to prevent the attacks.
