MPL has said the Agency will begin providing cold storage services to the public once the MPL port in Hulhumale’ is completed.
Speaking to press after signing the contract for port development between MPL and HDC, MPL CEO Mohamed Junaid said the agency will create 20 by 40 foot cold chambers to provide the cold storage services.
He said that not all importers had the ability to purchase freezer containers and that MPL wished to grant this service to public.
Junaid added that as the land rent is cheaper in Hulhumale’ they will have a lower operational cost and therefore will be able to pass on the benefits to their customers. He also said with the completion of the bridge, transporting products to Male’ would be easier.
Junaid said that most of the processes, especially ones related to the atolls will be shifted to Hulhumale’ once the MPL Hulhumale’ project is completed.
