Home Minister Umar Naseer has announced that 21 minors, involved in gangs have been sent to Dh.Vaanee for rehabilitation. The children were sent to the police station in Vaanee, where rehabilitation programs would be conducted in order for them to be released back to the society again.
Minister Umar said the minors will be accompanied by 27 police officers.
As individuals under 18 years have been granted concessions under the Constitution, many political figures and drug dealers have used them to carry out illicit activities.
The issue had exacerbated and risen to public attention following the murders of two 14 year-old children in the space of one night.
