Adeeb, Ziyath, Hamid to be sentenced tomorrow
Criminal Court had scheduled the hearing on the MMPRC embezzlement case against former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb, MMPRC former MD Abdullah Ziyath and businessman Hamid Ismail for tomorrow night.

The hearing was scheduled for 9.45pm. A verdict was initially scheduled for the 10th of this month, but it was shifted stating that additional review was required.

The charges were filed against the three for misappropriating the US$ 5 million recorded as acquisition cost for the lease of Lh. Maabinhuraa. Ziyaht had denied the statement he had given to the investigation, stating that he was under duress and that Police had said that he would be released if he had given such a statement.

The state had said the cash was deposited to MCM, a company owned by Hamid Ismail.

Senior officials of the company testified in Court that Adeeb had instructed to deposit the cheque of US$ 5 million to MCM account and that Hamid was not aware of the transaction. He said the cheques and slips were prepared directly by Adeeb.

Adeeb had already earned a 25-year jail term on terror charges.
