Keyodhoo Constituency MP Sheikh Moosa Nizar has stated that being a Muslim or adopting a certain manner or belonging to a certain race were now becoming criteria to declare an individual as a terrorist and stated that this was an untrue perception.
He said the assassin of the murdered British MP was not a Muslim and did not come from an Arab Islamic nation.
He condemned the attack, calling it an act of terror. Nizar added that even though many had attempted to change the facts of the case, the facts cannot be changed or twisted. “What they say that all Muslims are terrorists, are not true,”
Sheikh Moosa Nizar said that Islam guaranteed safety and security to all, irrespective of religion. He said the first greeting between Muslims was the salaam, which in itself lends credence to the peace and security provided by Islam.
“Islam is the religion of peace, security and peace, the name Islam itself derives from peace and security,” Sheikh Nizar said.
