Maldives United Opposition has announced that they will stage a civil disobedience protest against the government.
Supporters of the opposition sent messages today stating that a protest will be carried out on July 15 and urged all citizens to prepare for it.
The opposition had held meetings with foreign parties in London to discuss ways on how to change the government. They had claimed that with this government in place, a free and fair elections cannot be held in the country, while former President Mohamed Nasheed had been breaking fasts with political figures with clear anti-Maldivian, anti-Islamic agendas.
The government had defended its position stating that there were no legal grounds to change the government and install an interim government, adding that they will not allow such an act to happen.
