ADK introduces brand new services, boosts services
ADK Group has stated the company will introduce brand new services this year and will contribute towards improving the health sector of the country.

Speaking about the US$ 12 million loan ADK had acquired from German Development Bank, ADK Chairman Ahmed Nashid said the project was a US$ 18.2 million project out of which US$ 6.2 million is funded by ADK equity.

“Plus we have given a US$ 2.7 million bank guarantee. We have a two-year grace period and the loan is payable over a period of 10 years. We do not get these kind of arrangements from local banks,” Nashid said.

Nashid said the loan had taken time to acquire as the German bank had taken time to review and guarantee the loan. He said the company was able to acquire the loan as the company had to bring up their processes to internationally accepted standards.

Nashid said that in addition to providing the loan the Bank will assist in developing human resources in the hospital and provide European doctors for the Hospital.

Under the project, Nashid said that a three theater complex will be developed as well as a state of the art cath lab.

“We have local doctors who can carry out open heart surgery. That’s why we started the service. We’ve placed orders for all the necessary items for the cath lab and theater complex. The resources will be here in August,”

Nashid said that once completed five operation theaters will be created in ADK and other related services will be created.

“ADK now has a state of the art ICU. With this we’re creating a 12 bed HDU, which will house patients after operations and a critical care unit,”

He said special units for geriatric care and fertility services will be created in the new 10 floor wing of the hospital. Nashid revealed that the Hospital will seek to add in a new 10 floor wing.

“With these new services, ADK will now provide additional services required for Maldives. We want to take Maldivian health sector to a new standard,” he said.
