Parliament Committee has passed the amendment to fix green tax rate at US$ 3.
The amendment, proposed by Vilimale’ Constituency MP Ahemd Nihan Hussain Manik, initially proposed to tax every tourist at guesthouses at US$ 6, which was lowered to US$ 4, following concerns raised by ministry officials and guesthouse operators.
The motion will be in effect from October 1 onward.
Additionally, the Committee had passed to extend deadline of December 31, 2016 to December 31, 2017 to rent due on leased resorts.
