Health Ministry has tasked STO to supply ambulances to 28 islands.
Health Minister Abdullah Nazim and STO Chief Financial Officer Mohamed Mihad signed the agreement on behalf of the respective agencies.
Speaking on behalf of the Health Ministry, Ahmed Qasim said MVR 5.34 million from the state budget will be spent on the project.
Under the initiative, Maruti Suzuki small sized ambulances will be brought into the country. As the ambulances are small, it is ideal to use in islands. All services will be available in the small ambulances.
Qasim said the ambulances will be used in the smallest islands and this is part of the Presidential pledge to have an ambulance in every island.
STO GM Hussain Sabah said the ambulances will be handed over in the three-month period as tasked.
