Points for Clarification on Ahmed Naseem’s‘Legal’ Overthrow of Governments and other ‘Expert’ Activities.
Dear Mr. Ahmed ‘Kerafaa’ Naseem,

My guess is the experience in the 1980s, when a British SAS trained mercenary working at your behest,failed to overthrow the then government gives you some insight into such activities. Granted the attempt failed and was in fact illegal.But as the saying goes, “If at first you do not succeed then try and try again” eh?

As a student of the unorthodox I am curious;

How do you ‘remove’ a duly elected government, ‘through all legal and lawful means’?

Are you aware of the maxim ‘Ignorance of the law is no excuse’ and that using the word ‘legal’ while doing something illegal is still no excuse?

Do you think labelling an overthrow as ‘legal’ would somehow excuse you of the criminal intent? (I’d check with real lawyers on this.)

Am I missing something here or didn’t the current government come into office through an internationally vetted and accepted election process?If not are you saying that the UN, the Commonwealth, the United States, Sri Lanka, India, etc. who accepted those election results as free and fair and lawful were, and are, wrong? That the observers that had on the ground were also wrong?

As far as your ‘illustrious’ Foreign Service credentials are concerned – you had significant access to some top level contacts from the West during your wheeling and dealing with lobby groups to get Maldives to be the first Muslim nation to recognise Israel as a country. I’m sure everything was above board during those negotiations. Your reputation was beyond reproach then as this was before that nasty business in the 1980s – the one involving the British mercenary.

I especially admire that all your Foreign Service experience is telling you that you can bully India and even Sri Lanka into taking a position against another legitimate power in the region.

You do realise that in the UK your PM is rubbing off the mud from the Panama Papers, and his ineffectual handling of the Brexit campaign? And,this being an election year, all US politicians are excitable enough to not fact-check a country they’d be hard pressed to point out on a map are they?

Maybe the legitimate governments closer to home, say for example India and Sri Lanka, do not feel the need to playact to divert attention? I’ll defer to your expertise on that and all other point above.
Sincerely,

Haneef.
