PPM President Maumoon Abdul Qayyoom has called on the members of the Party to fully back the newly introduced reform agenda for PPM.
He made the statement in a press conference held Thursday evening.
In his address, the former President said that reform was necessary to ensure a win in the next council elections and regain the trust and support from the public.
Maumoon said the reform agenda was announced to address the issues within the Party, run the Party according to the Party laws and mandate and instill democratic values in the Party. He said there were many members who still adhere to the advice he gives.
He said the recent bills passed by the Parliament, especially the one that called for removing the bidding process in resort leasing, were passed against national interest and against Party laws.
President Maumoon noted that there were many issues within PPM. He said he had carried out many initiatives to rectify the issues, but had failed in those endeavors.
