Council members of PPM had requested Party President Maumoon Abdul Qayyoom to hold a council meeting within three days.
The letter sent to the President, signed by over 19 members of the council, stated that the meeting should be held within three days due to upcoming Eid holidays.
The request to hold the council meeting was made at a time when the Party was severely divided over the issue of party presidential ticket, amendment to tourism act and allegations of corruption had surfaced.
There are 33 members in the PPM council.
