Civil Court has ordered to implement the verdict issued on Haveeru and challenged the statements made by AG Mohamed Anil on the issue.
The order issued by the Court stated that a verdict cannot be challenged by the acting Home Minister and that the AG’s statements on the issue were incorrect. The Court today ordered to implement the verdict, noting the verdict will be implemented so long as it is not nullified by a higher court. The verdict also said that it was the responsibility and the mandate of stakeholder agencies to implement the orders issued by the Court.
The Acting Home Minister AG Anil yesterday said that based on the current Constitution and regulations no action cannot be taken on employees of Haveeru now employed in other medias.
Civil Court’s verdict said that if any employee had defied the verdict, Home Ministry will have to take action against it and that this verdict will be enforceable for a period of two years. The verdict also said the employees were connected to Haveeru and any mass resignation will negatively impact the paper. The verdict stated that this had been the precedent in previous cases and a legally valid decision.
