Former Home Minister Umar Naseer has said that his name will be on the list of contenders for the Presidential elections of 2018.
He made the statement after meeting JP Leader Qasim Ibrahim in Maafannu Villa.
Speaking to press, Umar said that there were no legal reasons to dismiss his candidacy, adding that he was certain that his name would be on the list.
Umar said that Qasim was a driving force in the elections of 2008 and 2013. “Qasim is the king maker in the country, that’s why I came here,”
Umar said that Qasim did not offer any commitment in the meeting but said that he will think about it. Umar added that the elections contender will never have the trump card. He had refrained from commenting on the links with Faris Maumoon adding that any such decision will be revealed later.
Qasim had not made a comment on the meeting.
PPM Deputy Leader Abdu Raheem Abdullah and Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer had met Qasim on behalf of the Party. Again, no details had been publicized.
