Use of semi-informed foreign journalists is concerning
The issue of semi-informed journalists writing about Maldives has been a pressing issue for the nation.

The article in the Pioneer paper over the dispatch of Pakistani doctors to the Maldives, had stated that the population of the Maldives was 1000000. This figure is an increase of 150 percent. Therefore, this begs the question of how much research the journalist had researched on the country.

The Pioneer said the number of Maldivians going to Pakistan, have been influenced by terror elements and joined terror groups. The paper had noted that Maldivian government had not banned Maldivians going to Pakistan.

The article had many factual errors. Many students are learning medicine in Pakistan. Health and Foreign Ministers had recently stated that the Government was seeking to open more educational opportunities for Maldivians from Pakistan.

Therefore, we can surmise that the author had no factual basis on the article.

Journalists had also latched on the close relations between Maldives and China, with many of these articles appearing on Indian press. Therefore, the article on the Pioneer is bereft from fact and designed for one purpose.

Doctors in the country are mostly from India, especially ones who is part of the generous assistance given by Indian government.
