Meedhoo Constituency MP Rozaina Adam has stated that she will file assault charges against the police officer who had gripped her arm and dragged her, during the gathering held last night to mark MDP’s anniversary.
Rozaina said the female officer assaulted her when she was standing at the corner of the road without taking part in any activity. She added the officer had gripped her arm when she was specifically stating that she did not wish to be touched.
Rozaina had criticized the Police for their decision that banned suits against single officers.
“Should action against one officer be filed against the whole institution? Will the whole institution be punished?” she said.
A statement released by Police yesterday said responsibility of all action carried out by Police officers will be on the Police institute.
