Housing Ministry has revoked the permit issued to MDP last night to hold one of their rallies in Carnival area.
Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizz stated that the permit was revoked after it was confirmed from various sources that the rally was held from another party than the one the permit was released for.
Dr, Muizz said that the Government will not allow any activity that calls for an illegal overthrow of the current Government. He said the permit was revoked as the Maldives United Opposition did not have any legal status and was not a registered body in the country, as advised by the Elections Commission.
“I had revoked the permit last night,”
He said the permit was issued to MDP and not MUO.
MDP had announced that the rally was conducted by MUO once the permit was issued by the Ministry. They had advertised the rally as an initiative to bring Maldives back to an interim and transitionary period.
