Commissioner of Police Ahmed Areef has stated that Police should not be hampered in their work by any person.
He made the statement in the ceremony held to mark the Police Memorial Day held to honor Police officers who had died on the line of duty.
Areef said that Police will address all the issues they face in implementing their mandates as Police officers and will seek measures against those who seek out to hamper their efforts.
He said that though some Police officers had acted unethically, most officers willingly gave up their lives on service, noting that they were honoring the sacrifices those officers had made in the line of duty.
Areef assured that Police will grant adequate assistance to those maimed and injured in the line of duty as well as the families of the deceased. He appealed to public to respect and assist Police, adding that Police and the citizens were one and the same.
