Management and Operation of Raa atoll Vandhoo Regional Waste Management Centre handed over to Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO).
At a Special ceremony held at She Building this morning, Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim signed the agreement to handover the Management and Operation of R. Vandhoo Regional Waste Management Facility, while the Managing Director of WAMCO, Mr. Ibrahim Fuad signed the agreement on behalf of the company.
Previously R.Vandhoo Regional Waste Management Facility was managed and operated by Maldives Environment Management Project (MEMP).
Manging Director of WAMCO Mr. Ibrahim Fuvad has assured that WAMCO will start operations from 5th August.
“Since the Project has to be managed as a sustainable project, we will be charging a nominal fee to maintain our operations. We will discuss with Resorts from the region to get their support.” Mr. Ibrahim Fuad added.
