ARC has been tasked with creating a heritage area for children in the Usgekolhu in Sultan Park.
Speaking in the signing ceremony held in Housing Ministry today, Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizz said that the building will be constructed by Housing Ministry and ARC will add in the heritage, cultural and historical aspects to the building.
Dr. Muizzu said the work on the area will be carried out in phases and will be completed by year end, latest by February next year. Once completed the area will have a hall to hold cultural exhibits.
The area will be child friendly, but is expected to become a tourist attraction as well. The area will be modeled after the Usgekolhu, which is over a century old. Up until recently the area housed the National Museum. The Museum was changed to the building made by China.
Dr. Muizzu said the area will become the strongest feature of Sultan Park, promoting social and familial ties as envisioned by the President.
