Police has issued orders for former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed and former Chair of RaajjeTV Akram Kamaluddin to turn themselves over to the Police within a 14 day period as part of an ongoing investigation.
A statement released by Police today stated that Police had previously issued summons for the two to give their statements to an ongoing investigation. However, the statement said that they were unable to hand the summons as the two were not in Maldives.
The statement added that the 14-day period was applicable from August 4, 2016 and once they turn themselves over, they will have the opportunity to respond to and defend themselves from the allegations raised.
The statement concluded by stating that if the two had failed to obey the summons in the period given, Police will enact all necessary measures against them.
