Vice President Abdullah Jihad has officially opened Masjid Zaid bin Thabith.
The Asr prayers were conducted in the mosque as part of the opening ceremony, attended by Islamic Minister Dr. Ahmed Ziyad Baqir, Home Minister Azleen Ahmed, heads of HDC and state dignitaries attended the opening.
Islamic Minister Dr. Ziyad said the mosque was a MVR 10 million investment completed within 135 days and catering to 650 persons. He added that mosques in Hulhumale’ will increase given the rise in population. He also said that the Islamic Center in the suburb will begin soon.
Dr. Ziyad thanked all those who assisted in ensuring the project was completed in time.
The mosque is located in the newly constructed funeral house. Given the proximity, the mosque will in future hold funeral prayers as well.
