Ooredoo launches Smart Campus, in partnership with Microsoft in Education
Ooredoo has partnered with Microsoft to launch Smart Campus, a cloud based education solution which allows for a next generation learning experience.
The solution is powered by Microsoft in Education - a cloud based application that transforms existing paper based management process to a cloud based system, enabling educators to maintain their curriculums online. Smart Campus solutions are provided with free connectivity for educational institutions, as well as free data packages for students who join the program from remote locations. Students and teachers who use this innovative service will also receive free licenses from Microsoft, which connects them to an array of educational opportunities.

In the Maldives, the Ministry of Education has stressed on the importance of using technology in education, from primary and secondary levels to college and university levels. It has advocated educators to move away from conventional methods of education to innovative and technologically enhanced methodologies. Ooredoo Smart Campus will greatly facilitate educational institutes in benefiting from globally renowned technologies, and expanding their reach to all corners of the nation.
Minister of Education, Dr. Aishath Shiham said: “In a nation where highly dispersed communities are separated by geographical boundaries, innovative solutions are necessary in ensuring education and development opportunities to youth. As part of President Yameen’s pledge to ensure that all youth are skilled, we have initiated a number of distance learning programs that have proved to be very successful. We are very encouraged by the support received from Ooredoo and Microsoft in taking this project even further.”
Smart Campus not only lets students have access to educational material at any time, but also enables them to complete the coursework and submit it online, making education more accessible for all.Opportunities offered to students and teachers through the Microsoft in Education platform includecommunications support, online class notes with live comments and quizzes, attendance marking systems as well as online scheduling and timetables. Students also receive access to online classrooms with classroom to classroom sharing, guest speakers, virtual field trips, recorded lessons and more.Furthermore, students can easily tune into lectures and discussions on relevant topics of interest,facilitated by renowned personalities across the world.

As part of its corporate social responsibility and its anniversary celebrations with the local community, the company will be providing Ooredoo Smart Campus services to Maldives Polytechnic, free of charge. Ooredoo places great emphasis on contributing to the social and economic development of the society within with it exists. As the company celebrates 11 years in the Maldives, it has committed to include local communities in their celebrations with meaningful initiatives that will impact them positively.

Ooredoo Smart Campus is available on three different packages inclusive of Smart Campus Elementary for small batches of 20, Smart Campus Academia for batches of 50, and Smart Campus University for batches of 100. Additional users can also be enrolled for MVR 200 per user. Educational Institutes will receive free internet connectivity, with Ooredoo Smart Campus packages. Likewise, students who are joining from remote locations will also receive a definite amount of free data for study purposes.
