MPL CEO Mohamed Junaid has stated that the construction of the city hotel will begin once the land for the hotel had been acquired. The city hotel to be built in Addu City is a project initiated by President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom to provide job opportunities for youth of the city.
Speaking to Miadhu, Junaid said that the President had made the city hotel a priority.
“The city hotel will create new and different types of jobs. Additionally, the city hotel will provide opportunities to sell goods and services. These all represent job opportunities,”
Junaid said that they were in negotiations with Housing Ministry to acquire the land for the city hotel. He added that once the land was acquired, the construction can begin.
Junaid said that the company placed immense importance to the project as they had recognized the importance the President attached to the project and the potential jobs created.
Previous governments had failed in creating jobs for the citizens of Addu City.
