Parliament  endorses  newly  appointed  Cabinet Members
At the Seventh Sitting of the Second Session of the People’s Majlis held today, Members endorsed unanimously the five nominations by the President for the Cabinet as per Article 129 (a) of the Constitution and sent for Majlis endorsement as stated in Article 129 (d) of the Constitution as reviewed by the Government Oversight Committee.

Former Health Minister Ms. Iruthisham Adam of H. Orchid appointed as Minister of Youth and Sports, received 66 votes.

Mr. Ahmed Munavvar of Gaha, Madaveli appointed as Minister of Finance and Treasury, received 66 votes.

Mr. Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim of Bodufendaage, Lh. Hinnavaru, appointed as Minister of Health, received 65 votes.

Ms. Aiminath Zenysha Shaheed Zaki of M. Nooraaneege appointed as Minister Gender and Family, received 68 votes.

Dr. Mohamed Asim of G.Vaajeheyaage appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs, received 67 votes.

The Committee Report was presented to the floor by Chair of the Government Oversight Committee,. Riyaz Rsheed, MP for Vilifushi.

Three Members spoke on the report during the time allocated for debate.

Nominations by the President for the Cabinet were sent to Committee for review on Seventh Sitting of the Second Session on 29 June 2016, as per Article 171 (b) of the Regulation on the Proceedings of the People’s Majlis.
