Four Seasons Surfing Championship 2016 launched
The annual Surfing Championship organized by Four Seasons Maldives has been launched.

The tournament is set to begin tomorrow. The official opening was held in Four Seasons Kuda Huraa this evening. Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim and Youth and Sports Minister Irthisham Adam were the chief guests of the opening.

Speaking in the opening, Minister Thoriq said that sea was one of the defining aspects of the country and as such Maldivians were closely linked with sea sports. He said that the annual tournament organized by Four Seasons contributed significantly to the sector and the country.

Minister Thoriq remarked that six international champions were competing in this year’s tournament, adding that increasing the number of international champions will increase the country’s profile. He thanked Four Seasons for their initiative.

Local surfer Hussain Areef (Ibu) will contest this tournament. International surfers such as Hawaiian Bachory Hamilton will contest in the tournament.

This is the sixth time the tournament is held in Four Seasons.
