President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has stated that there was no better book than Quran when it came to learning lessons, adding that if we are to progress further we must adhere to Quran.
He made the statement speaking in the STO Top Achievers Awards 2015 held this evening in Dharubaaruge, addressing the graduates.
The President said that learning and education were never ending processes. He said that the top achievers of this evening have to work hard to ensure success in future education.
President Yameen said that hundreds of thousands of students from 150 nations annually sat the Cambridge examinations. He remarked that the successes enjoyed by the country on an international level were truly remarkable.
“even this year, 40 Maldivian students were in the global top 10. Seven students were placed first, this is a brilliant success,”
President Yameen noted that purely succeeding in academics was not sufficient, adding that physical development, sports and exercise were also necessary. He also said that students needed to develop life skills and other required skills for work place success as well.
The President appealed to students to lend their brilliance and sincere efforts to national development.
