Saudi Embassy has begun to issue Hajj visas to the 1000 pilgrims under Saudi Government quota and 1000 pilgrims quota granted by Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz.
A special team from Saudi Arabia has begun stamping Hajj visas last night and from 5.00 pm today onward.
Maldives has been granted the largest quota per population, highlighting the strong relationship between the two nations.
Prior to President Yameen’s tenure, the country was granted a quota of 500 and an additional 500 under a special quota, making a quota of 1000 at maximum.
Work on increasing quota began during Dr. Mohamed Waheed’s tenure.
