Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) has launched trash pick up service.
The “Call and Pickup Service” was launched today in a ceremony by Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim held in Environment Ministry.
Customers can make use of the service by calling 1666 for the service. A 350 kg pickup ride will cost MVR 250, while a 1.5 ton pickup ride costs MVR 550, all the way from Male’ to Thilafushi. WAMCO said their rates were 30 percent lower than market prices. Customers will have to provide assistance in loading the trash to the vehicles.
The service will be provided from 2pm to 10pm, but WAMCO said they will be increasing the timings based on demand. The company is currently providing the services with two pickups, subject to increase based on demand.
The project is a collaborative effort by WAMCO and the Ministry.
