Indian High Commissioner Akhilesh Mishra has stated that the biggest win for Indian democracy was meeting of governments and defending democracy.
He made the statement in the flag hoisting ceremony held this morning in Indian High Commission. In his address, Mishra said that democracy was growing strong every day, especially over the past four to five years.
Mishra said the biggest sign of this was the smooth transition of governments including maintenance of democratic values.
He said that Indian independence was achieved with the sacrifice of millions, a sacrifice carried out by both known and unknown patriots will be forever immortalized and recognized.
“The work carried out by Mahatma Gandhi liberated India from English in 1947. Then no one believed that India could remain as a democratic nation. But today India has proven that the country is the biggest democracy,”
Indian citizens living in the country, diplomats, embassy employees attended the flag hoisting ceremony.
