Villa College to Train Participants in Water Sports.

Villa College is to undertake the training of 30 participants in diving and other water sports under the ‘Dhasvaaru’ programme run by The Ministry of Education.

During the signing over of the diving and water sports training programme to Villa College, The Minister of Education, Dr.AishathShiham, stated the importance for participants in the field to be accommodated at a tourist resort for the training.

Further, according to Dr. Ahmed Anwar, The Rector of Villa College, the aquatic recreation sports training will be conducted at level 3, and the training is scheduled to complete within a period of 3 months.

The training programme will award certificates in 5 fields at international level, which include wind surfing, catamaran sailing, licence in water sports assistance, emergency first aid, and surf rescue licence.

The three month programme is structured into two months of training at the Villa College Sun Island Campus, followed by one month of training as staff in the various water sports centres in different resorts.

According to Villa College, this would be the 15th batch of training in the field. Further, they state that 86 per cent of the previously trained participants have remained in employment, hence, proving to be a programme of successful employment opportunities.

The current training programme that is being signed over to Villa College would train 30 participants in two different batches.
