Since its establishment in the Maldives, Ooredoo has transformed the telecommunication industry of Maldives, driving it to reach international standards in connectivity, services and innovation. With a commitment to Digital Maldives, the company is currently working to improve the lives of its customers through smart solutions which provide relief to various issues being faced across the communities.
The company today donated a number of digital solutions that will bring exciting new opportunities for its beneficiaries. These solutions include 15 electronic wheelchairs for young children with disabilities, which allow for more comfort, enhanced mobility, and the opportunity to maximise their independence.
Access to internet has the potential to connect communities to a world of knowledge, and exciting new opportunities for social and economic development. As such, Ooredoo has partnered with Huawei to donate 500 USB Modem’s, with a free internet plan for a year. With the assistance of the Sadagat Foundation, the modems will be provided to humanitarian and non-profit agencies that require communication support.
Ooredoo has also partnered with the foundation to provide computers and connectivity for twenty five telecentres in different regions across the Maldives. The telecenter’s will allow people free access to computers and internet, enabling them to learn, communicate and develop essential digital skills.

The donations were revealed at “SciTech Kids” event, aimed to inspire the next generation of innovators through hands-on activities and experiments that make kids excited about science and technology. The event was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ms Iruthisham Adam.
To commemorate 11 years in the Maldives, Ooredoo is carrying out a month long celebration, with heartfelt initiatives that benefit the local community. It will continue its effort to support human growth across the nation, powered by pioneering technologies and innovations.
