International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) Secretary General Professor Omar Kasule has stated that he was ready to spend his whole life in the Maldives if possible.
Professor Kasule made the statement speaking in the opening ceremony of the Scholar’s Symposium organized jointly by IIIT and Maldives Islamic University, speaking about the beauty of the country.
Professor Kasule said that he first heard of Maldives from the tomes of Ibn Batuta and then from a family residing in Seychelles while doing his research.
“Since then I’ve wanted to visit the Maldives. I first came here 35 years back. This is my third visit. When I came here I saw the beauty everyone talked about,”
Professor Kasule is a renowned scholar on Islamic studies and research, with a higher education in medicine. He was instrumental in creating the Saudi Arabia’s Riyad Medical Center and Malaysia’s Islamic University. He had served for 10 years in the University as well.
Professor Kasule was also the finding Chief Editor of the International Medical Journal.
