Maldives National University has signed an agreement with the Anti-Corruption Commission to start a course in MNU business school to reduce theft of state funds. This course is prepared upon request of ACC.
In a ceremony held this morning, the President of ACC Hassan Luthfee signed the agreement on behalf of ACC while Shaathih Ali the dean of MNU business school signed on behalf of MNU.
The course is named as “Certificate 3 in public procurement and financial regulations”. The modules for this course will be prepared by ACC.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hassan Luthfee said that most of the cases are filed at ACC because of some loopholes in procurement regulations and financial management systems. He said that such a course will identify such problems and problems will be reduced in the future.
He further said that he hopes all government institutions to make good use of the opportunity and encourage their staffs to take part in this course. He said that then, cases of financial mismanagement will be greatly reduced.
