Ministry of Islamic Affairs has contracted companies to build mosques in Lhohi, Feevah and Maalhendhoo, projects funded through free financial aid by Saudi Arabian government.
The contracts were officially signed in a ceremony held at Ministry of Islamic Affairs this Monday.
The 504-people mosque in Feevah will cost approximately MVR 1.4 million and has to be completed within two months, while the 304-people mosque in Lhohi will cost approximately MVR 4 million.
The combined cost of building all three mosques amounts to MVR 9.7 million.
Both projects have been contracted to Vimlla Construction.
Meanwhile, the mosque in Maalhendhoo has been contracted to Enoka Private Limited and is expected to cost MVR 4.3 million.
Dr. Ziyad said currently work was ongoing on 38 projects and 15 mosques are to be opened.
