A special football match has been played in the honor of Argentinean football star Roberto Ayala. Ayala is visiting the Maldives on an invitation by the Football Association of Maldives.
The match was played in Jumeirah Vittaveli, the resort where he stayed in Maldives. One of the teams in the match was named after Ayala and the other was a team of Jumeriah resort.
Ayala’s extremely good playing was seen in the match. Since the football pitch was small and he was playing against and with relatively weak players Ayala did not seem that active on the field. However during times when he got the ball his brilliant skills were shown. Despite being not that active, Ayala scored a goal during the match. It showed how good he is.
A spokesperson from the resort said that they organized this match because they were honored to have a top level football player as their guest. Special Maldivian cultural dances were performed in his honor.
The friendly match was won by Jumeirah team with 6 goals. Team Ayala scored 5 goals. At the end of the match Jumeirah presented Ayala with a special certificate of recognition.
