MTCC begins construction of hopper suction dredger
MTCC has begun the construction of hopper suction dredger Mahaa Jaraaf.

The work began on August 25th in a ceremony held in Nantong Rainbow Marine Technology Boat Yard by MTCC CEO Ibrahim Ziyath and Chairman Hussain Salim Mohamed.

MTCC said the dredger is capable of digging 50 meters, 92.95 meters long and 16.30 meters wide. The dredger can hold 3700 cubic meters of sand.

MTCC CEO Ibrahim Ziyath said the dredger will be completed by December this year. The dredger will arrive in the Maldives in March 2017, after test runs. Ziyath said they were working to bring in the dredger before that and that the dredger will be at international standards.

Ziyath said the dredger will assist in development projects of the Government and the company and will boost the company’s assets and development.

MTCC had shown a scale model of the dredger decked with MTCC name and logos.
