Housing Minister Dr.Mohammed Muizz have said that, work will begin to develop 11 streets of Male’ after Eid holidays.
Speaking to the press at Housing Ministry, Minister said that the project of re-developing the streets of Male’ is funded by the state budget and aims to prevent flooding of streets during heavy rainfall.
The first 11 streets to be re-developed are, Majeedhee Magu, Ameene Magu, Kanbaa Aisaa Rani Hingun, Chaandhanee Magu, Orchid Magu, Lonu Ziyaarai Magu, Haveeree Hingun, Handhuvaree Hingun, Ameer Ahmed Magu, Buruzu Magu and Izzudeen Magu.
The minister said that these 11 streets are used the most in Male’. This will be the largest road development project conducted in Male’ after the streets of Male were paved in the 80s. Since Bodu Thakurufaanu Magu is to be tarmacked, that road is not included among the 11 streets.
Work will begin on Majeedhee Magu by 18th September. Dr.Muizz noted that fire safety systems will be placed on these streets.
