Finance Ministry starts taking action against MDP leadership who failed to pay back the state

Finance Ministry have started taking action against members of MDP leadership who failed to pay back the money which was lost due to corruption and mismanagement during MDP administration.



The director of Finance Ministry Ahmed Aiman said that when 7 of former MDP government officials were asked to pay back the money only Dr.Shaheed, paid it. He said that they will try to retrieve the money from the rest of them by working with concerned authorities.



Aiman said that it is a responsibility of the Finance Ministry to retrieve money that is owed to the state, and that now the Finance Minister have started special efforts to retrieve the money.



According to the audit reports, a lot of money was lost due to corruption and mismanagement during MDP administration. Those responsible include senior officials of MDP and former President Nasheed as well.

A lot of audit reports in the Maldives show that people have often embezzled money. But till now no solid action has been taken against most of them, specially Big Giants.
